I Corinthians 1a Bible Study Questions

I Corinthians 1:1-17

1.) Read I Corinthians (~60 minutes).  Do not stop to focus on all the details.  Simply survey the letter for key points.

          -What repeated words, phrases, and subjects did you observe?

-What seems to be the main point(s) of the letter?

          -Why did Paul write this letter?

2.) Read I Corinthians 1:1-17.  How does Paul introduce himself?  How are the recipients of this letter described?

3.) What is Paul thankful for concerning the Corinthians?

4.) Look at v9. 

          -What characteristic of God is mentioned?

          -How is this connected to “you were called into the fellowship of                       

           His Son

          -What do the 3 “names” of “Jesus Christ our Lord” mean?”

5.) What is Paul’s appeal?

6.) What has been reported to Paul?

7.) To be “of Paul” required what two things?

8.) What does Paul mean in v17, “For Christ did not send me to baptize”? 

          -Does this mean that baptism is not important?
